With just a month to go for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on April 23, the major political alliances have finalised their seat-sharing arrangements.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, led by the opposition AIADMK, has announced its seat-sharing deal following a meeting in Chennai between Union Minister Piyush Goyal and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami. Under the agreement, AIADMK will contest the largest share of seats, while allies BJP, PMK, and AMMK will receive smaller allocations. Speaking to the media, Goyal expressed confidence that the NDA would sweep the Tamil Nadu elections, citing its recent successes in Maharashtra, Haryana, Bihar, and Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Congress-DMK alliance has also finalised its seat-sharing. In Tamil Nadu, Congress will contest 28 Assembly seats along with one seat in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. In Puducherry, Congress will contest 16 seats and DMK 14, with DMK allocating one seat each to its allies VCK and CPI.
