Andhra Pradesh now has 28 districts under the TDP-led government, compared to 26 during the previous YSRCP regime, following the creation of two new districts — Polavaram and Markapuram. The move marks a significant administrative expansion in the state, while Amaravati continues to remain the capital.
The updated district map was released by the State Disaster Management Agency on Saturday, shortly after both Houses of Parliament passed the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill. Officials stated that the reorganisation is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and bringing governance closer to the people, with expectations of better service delivery and regional development.
