Tehran, April 25:
Tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, with Tehran issuing a sharp warning that it will respond strongly if Washington maintains its naval blockade on Iranian ports.
Iranian military officials described the blockade as “piracy” and “illegal interference”, accusing the US of violating international norms. They made it clear that continued pressure on Iran’s maritime operations would not go unanswered.
The warning comes amid ongoing conflict in the region, particularly around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route for oil. Iran has repeatedly signaled that it could take action affecting maritime traffic if the blockade persists.
Officials also stressed that any threat to Iran’s ports would trigger a broader response, suggesting that instability could spread across vital sea routes in the Gulf region.
The US, however, has continued enforcing restrictions on vessels linked to Iran as part of its broader strategy during the ongoing crisis. Reports indicate that several ships have already been intercepted or turned away under the blockade measures.
With both sides holding firm, the situation remains highly volatile, raising concerns about global energy supplies and the safety of international shipping routes.
