Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled an ambitious ₹22,000 crore Green Energy Corridor Phase-III plan to integrate 18 GW of renewable energy into the main power grid, positioning the state as a global green energy hub.
What is the AP Green Energy Corridor?
The Andhra Pradesh government is taking major steps to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure by establishing a Green Energy Corridor and expanding the electricity transmission network. Under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III, proposals worth nearly ₹22,000 crore have been prepared to connect approximately 18 GW of green energy to the main grid.
The proposed capacity includes 11 GW of solar power and around 7 GW from pumped storage projects, making it one of the most ambitious renewable energy integration plans in India.
Key Infrastructure Plans
To support this green energy push, the government plans to:
Lay 2,261 km of new transmission lines
• Establish five major pooling stations with a combined capacity of 9,500 MW
• Locations: Mudigubba, Talupula, Ramayapatnam, Porumamilla, and Koppaka
Solar Panels for Homes & EV Charging Stations
The Chief Minister directed officials to complete solar panel installation in SC and ST households by August 2026. So far, 1,35,821 homes have already been covered. Under a new scheme for BC communities, solar panels will be provided to 10 lakh homes with a ₹20,000 subsidy.
On the EV front, the government has commenced setting up 577 EV charging stations across 131 locations statewide.
Digital Innovation: India’s First Digital Twin Grid
Andhra Pradesh is set to become home to India’s first Digital Twin Grid for power supply management. Officials are also collaborating with Stanford University-affiliated organisation ‘Pravah’ and an AI lab to reduce technical power losses in the APEPDCL region.
WEF & Fourth Industrial Revolution Centre
A World Economic Forum (WEF) delegation met CM Naidu to discuss setting up India’s first Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in Andhra Pradesh, which will focus on green energy, energy transition, and cyber resilience. The CM directed that AP’s progress be showcased at the next Davos summit.
AP’s 160 GW Green Energy Vision
Chief Minister Naidu reiterated that Andhra Pradesh has set an ambitious target of generating 160 GW of green energy. The Green Energy Corridor will also support the power needs of upcoming data centres, enhancing investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
