The new facility — a Shimadzu Trinias C-12 system worth ₹3.78 crore — was commissioned on Wednesday by R. J. Rathnakar, Managing Trustee of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. The inauguration was attended by SSSIHMS Director Dr. Gurumurthy, Ms. Anjanadevi from the Sri Sathya Sai Global Council (Zone 1-USA), and senior hospital staff.
Notably, this is the second advanced Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory to be set up at the hospital within just two years — reflecting the institution’s growing commitment to world-class cardiac care for the common people.
What is a Cardiac Cath Lab?
A Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory (Cath Lab) is a specialised medical facility used to diagnose and treat heart diseases through minimally invasive procedures — meaning smaller cuts, faster recovery, and less pain for patients compared to traditional surgery.
Speaking at the event, Rathnakar highlighted the founding vision of Sri Sathya Sai Baba — to provide advanced medical services free of charge to every person, without distinction of caste, creed, religion, race, or nationality. He noted that the Cardiology department has already completed around 16 lakh patient consultations, and that the new system would help doctors deliver even better care going forward.
The Shimadzu Trinias C-12 is an advanced ceiling-mounted digital angiography system specifically designed for interventional cardiology. It is equipped with AI-based image processing technology that delivers high-quality imaging with reduced radiation exposure — making it safer for patients while giving doctors a clearer view of fine blood vessels and improving overall treatment efficiency.
The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust reaffirmed its commitment to continue upholding the service ideals of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba through its ongoing healthcare and social welfare initiatives across India and the world.
